Gorham, ME - Sharon M. (Pecoraro) Cooper, 75, of Gorham, died Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Maine Medical Center.
She was born on January 4, 1942, in Utica, NY a daughter of the late John and Jan (Zebrowski) Pecoraro. Sharon moved to Tucson, AZ in 1959 and studied Pharmacology at University of Arizona but left school early to start her family.
Sharon worked in a variety of positions during her working career but always seemed to enjoy most working in clothing retail as buyer, in catalog layout and design and store display.
She came to Maine from Arizona to retire and live with her Son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter. An active crafter who enjoyed to crochet, Sharon often worked fund-raising with the craft group at St. Anne Church in Gorham. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing with her granddaughter Lilly.
Sharon was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer in 2011 and had been undergoing treatment over the past few years - though not the direct cause of her death, the treatments received gave her many additional years with her family here in Maine.
She is survived by her son Ian Barr and his wife Barbara of Gorham, her daughter Valerie Hansen and her husband David of Norcross, GA and her two grandchildren Alex Barr and his wife Meghan of Las Vegas, NV and Lillian Barr of Gorham, ME. She also leaves her brothers John Pecoraro of Phoenix, AZ and Gary Pecoraro of Phoenix, AZ and her sister Cynthia Scott of Williamsburg, VA.
Sharon wished to be remembered simply - only a private family memorial service will be held in Arizona at a yet to be determined date.
