Ria Hannelore Rosenberger (Schäfer) “Mutti” “Oma” "Grandma", 90, passed peacefully at home surrounded by family on August 3rd, 2018.

Hannelore was born January 30, 1928, to Marie (Biller) and Ludwig Schäfer in Wiesbaden-Schierstein, Germany. She met her late husband, Duane T. Rosenberger, at age 22 while he was serving in the Navy. Hannelore and Duane fell quickly in love and after they were married, moved to the Bronx, New York in 1951, until finally moving to Massapequa Park, Long Island where they would raise their family. Hannelore gave birth to her first daughter, Lore-Marie, in 1958 and her second, Mary-Lou in 1961. While living on Long Island, Hannelore taught herself accounting which lead to a robust career of which she took great pride in.

In 1989, Hannelore and Duane retired to Melbourne, Florida where they spent 20 years traveling, listening to music, and enjoying nibbles and high balls. They enjoyed spending time with her many friends in Suntree, especially Vi and Dan Schaefer as well as Helen and George Niederhauser, loving transplants from Long Island. Hannelore and Duane lived for their children and grandchildren.

Hannelore made her final move to Lyman, Maine where she shared a home with her daughter, Mary-Lou, and son-in-law, Richard. She spent her last year in the “cold country”, surrounded by family, friends and two loving dogs, Joey and Chloe.

Hannelore will be remembered by her friends and family as a woman with immense strength, courage, kindness, and compassion. She enjoyed years of water aerobics, playing cards, baking, feeding the duckies, and watching the birds in her backyard. Hannelore's friends and family will miss her infamous Thanksgiving stuffing, traditional Christmas cookies and Stollen which has fortunately been passed down to her children and grandchildren.

Hannelore is predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Duane T. Rosenberger. She is survived by her two daughters Lore-Marie Pilotte of Saco, Maine and Mary-Lou Emmons and her husband Richard of Lyman, Maine and five grandchildren, Micho Pilotte and fiancé Brian Ahern of Londonderry, NH, Jillian Pilotte of Londonderry, NH, Justin Brandstein of Lyman, Maine, Ari Brandstein and fiancé Kathryn Conway of Framingham, MA, and Ailish Pilotte of Londonderry, NH.
