Bridgton, ME - Marilyn J. Erickson, 88, wife of the late Norman D. Erickson died in Bridgton, Maine on May 6, 2017. Born on August 25, 1928, she was the only child of Albert and Blanche Carlson of Worcester, MA.
Marilyn is survived by her children Karen Erickson and her husband Eric Gulbrandsen of Lovell, ME, David Erickson of Soddy Daisy, TN, and Donna Maskwa and her husband Michael of Dover, NH. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, her sister-in-law Gloria Cown of Rockland, ME and her only niece Tina Morand and her husband Dennis of Camden.
Marilyn was incredibly creative and artistic and an original DIY expert in sewing, painting, quilts and gardens. She loved “back of the box” recipes. Her Swedish pizza recipe was ketchup on toast. If a new recipe failed to please, her response was often, “Well that was great. Let’s have it in another 10 years.” After years of tying everyone’s ski boots and skates, she took up skiing herself and then golf. She was the heart of her family and a great listener. She left them all with great memories of her strength, practicality and love.
She also loved her community of Mt. Vernon, Maine and Flying Pond. She was a member of the North Vienna United Methodist Church and The Mill Stream Grange in Vienna.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Mill Stream Grange, c/o Jill Sampson, Sec., 163 Tower Road, Vienna, Maine 04360.
A private family service at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Concord, MA will be held at a later date.
