Lindy Lou "DeeDee" Bruns

Lindy Lou "DeeDee" Bruns

Lindy Lou (DeeDee) Bruns Burgess, 63, of Westbrook, Maine, passed away peacefully, on April 15, 2019 after a brief battle with cancer. She was the daughter of the late Elmer W. Bruns of Portland and the late Betty Cote Bruns Webster Cavanaugh of Winn, Maine.

Lindy is survived by her children, son Michael Bruns of Gorham, Maine, his wife Amy Bruns; and son, Clifford Burgess, also of Gorham, Maine. Brother Dwight Bruns of Portland, Maine and brother Clifford Bruns of Portland, Maine. Sisters, Maymelee Bruns of Rumford, Maine, Nanette Bruns of Westbrook, Maine and Debbie Bruns Gallant of Barre, Vermont. She is also survived by her last aunt, Mrs. Martha Carver and her wonderful family. DeeDee lived her entire life in Maine but loved the warmer weather so that she could be in her beloved flip flops. She loved anything purple especially the lilacs that would bloom in the spring. DeeDee was an avid coupon user who could never pass up a good deal. She also had an unconditional love for all her family and friends. She was always invited to social gatherings, and more times than not, requested to bring one of the many old family recipes that everyone loved. Every day at 1:00 DeeDee could be found watching what she called “her story” or Days of our Lives. She rarely missed an episode in 40 years and would wait to call you back when it was over.

DeeDee’s memory will live on in the many loved ones that she leaves behind as she had touched so many lives in her time on this earth. She will continue to touch lives going forward as the tissues and corneas of her eyes were donated to recipients awaiting them. She would be so happy to know that she could forever help in this way.

There will be a Celebration of Life gathering on June 9, 2019 from 1 to 5 pm at: Summit Community Church Maine · Scarborough, ME

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to:

Westbrook Animal Refuge League

449 Stroudwater Street

Westbrook, ME 04092.
