Auburn, ME – Hugo Mark Sonagere, age 88, passed away on March 6, 2017 at The Odd Fellows’ and Rebekahs’ Home of Maine.
He was born January 12, 1929 to the late Alessandro and Pia (Satore) as one of seven children. In 1951 he joined the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. As a member of the United States Army Corps of Engineers Hugo served during the Korean War.
In 1953 he returned home and joined the Local Tile Union 77 out of Newark NJ. In 1954 he married Egidia, and they began their family journey of 65 years together.
He was devoted to his family and treasured his time and special moments with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid gardener who loved birds and animals.
Hugo is survived by his wife Egidia (Romano) of 63 years, his son Kenneth Sonagere and wife Kathy, his daughter Lisa Eckerson and husband Willard, and grandchildren; Matthew, Alison, Kate, Melissa.
A private family service will be held at a later time.
