Scarborough, ME - Diann B. Carroll, 76, of South Portland ME, died on Sunday, December 2, 2018, at Pine Point Center.
She was born in Worcester, MA on November 29, 1942 a daughter of the late Marvin L. and Beatrice M. Beinema. Diann attended Worcester State College, earning a Bachelor’s degree in English.
Early on she taught high school English but the majority of her professional career was spent in Volunteer Services at the American Red Cross in Farmington, CT, as motor services coordinator and later as Director of Volunteer Services.
After retiring to Southern Maine, Diann joined the Altrusa Club and was active in volunteering for the Portland Land Trust, among other worthy organizations.
Diann enjoyed the outdoors, especially the beach, and watching the birds and other wildlife; she was proud of her flower gardens, and loved to go camping as often as possible. She also enjoyed reading detective novels, and chatting with friends old and new at her favorite local establishments.
She is survived by an older brother, the Reverend M. Ronald Beinema of Falmouth, ME and his wife, adult children and their children; her son, Derek Carroll and his fiancée and children; her daughter, Keri Hooper and her husband and son; cousins, Raymond and Robert Mars and their wives and children, and of course numerous friends and colleagues.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Diann's Life on Saturday, April 6, 2019 beginning at 1 p.m. at Sebago Brewing Company, 201 Southborough Drive, Scarborough, ME
