South Portland, ME - Carolyn A. Gray of South Portland, passed away peacefully at Maine Medical Center on Sunday, July 2, 2017.
Carolyn was born on September 3, 1945 in Damariscotta, ME, a child of the late Roland Sumner and Christina Gray. Carolyn graduated San Francisco State University in 1974 majoring in English and Literature. She received her Master’s degree in Psychology at Norwich University in 1995.
Lyn started her career in counseling at Midcoast Rehab Center in Owls Head, ME from 1974-1979. She then worked as an alcohol and drug counselor at Lincoln Academy from 1985-1992. Carolyn joined Food Addiction Chemical Dependency Consultants in 1992 where she remained an integral part of its treatment team until her death.
Carolyn was a proud member of the National Association of Alcohol and Drug Counselors. She was an honest and caring therapist, who was loved by her clients as well as her coworkers and enriched the lives of all that knew her.
Carolyn is survived by her daughter Corinna Costello and her grandson Jackson Costello Wilmot. She also leaves her F.A.C.D.C. family as well as her Dr. Bob and Bill W. families. Also, all her good friends and clients will miss her terribly.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the Old Orchard Beach United Methodist Church, 5 Washington Ave. Old Orchard Beach, ME.
