South Casco, ME - Arnold C. Wood, known to friends as “Woody”, 90 went to be with the lord and his beautiful wife, “Muriel Wood” Friday, April 13, 2018.
He was born in Presque Isle, MEon October 4, 1927, a son of Isiah and Iva (Thomas) Wood. In his early years, Woody would help his parents work the family farm in Presque Isle with his six brothers and four sisters. He leaves his older brother Richard (Dick) his wife Vivian, of Yarmouth Maine.
At a young age Woody was gifted in music, he played several different instruments of which his favorite piece was the violin in the orchestra. Woody moved down to Southern Maine in the early 1940’s and worked at the New England shipyard as a welder. He took pride in his welding and furthered his talents by entering the early years of World War II of the U.S. Army. Honorably discharged in 1947, at which time he returned and married his dearest friend Muriel Ricker from, Falmouth ME. Together they had five children. His wife Muriel R. Wood, a son Steven Wood, two daughters Dale Wood and, Sheri Wood predeceased him. He is survived by his youngest son and friend, Martin T. Wood and his daughter Diane M. Buckley. He also laves two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Woody worked 36 years in automotive repair, fabrication and welding. He retired from Walcho of Lewiston ME, 1992. He then continued working right up to 2017 with his son Marty building a very successful business, Martin’s Propeller Repair.
An avid fisherman his whole life, tying all his own flies and having many brook trout and salmon visiting his side. He has traveled the state from top to bottom and east to west pursuing his favorite pastime. Woody’s passion of the outdoors has truly relished his time with his family and friends. He always cherished every day and enjoyed sharing stories among others.
