Freeport - Donelda “Donnie” Jo Madore passed away on Saturday February 10,2018 due to a fire in her home; she was 68.
Donelda was born on July 18, 1949 in Artesia California, the daughter of Donald Jay and Virginia Irene (Jackson) McKenna. She grew up in Westbrook ME, graduating from Westbrook High in 1967. She worked as a CANA first in Massachusetts and then at Pineland. Her last job was as in the shipping and receiving department for BJ’s in Portland ME; until 1998 when she decided to fulfill her passions as an amazing home maker and extremely talented ceramic artist.
Donelda was a member of the Grange where she met her husband David Madore Sr. and they married soon after; they would have celebrated their 50th anniversary in October of this year.
Her passion was creating many mouse figures in the style of Charming Tails. Her passion for ceramics was so great that she even taught classes from her studio at her home. Donelda also enjoyed traveling with her husband David to their time shares. Her favorite place to visit was Villa Roma Resort in New York. Any travel was an amazing adventure for her and if she could find a zoo to visit it was a magical journey. She was an avid animal lover, craftsman, teacher, wife, mother and grandmother. She will be missed by all the people she has touched.
Donelda leaves her husband David Madore Sr.; her children, David Jr., Dorothy Kozuszek and Deidra Madore and their spouses, and her granddaughter Cassidy. She also leaves her siblings; Sandy, Donald Jay, Bette, Kenneth and Carolyn.
A celebration of her life will be at a later date. Donelda will be buried at the Madore Family Plot in Millinocket.
