John A. Johnson

John Alfred Johnson, 41, was called home unexpectedly on November 20, 2017. He was born in Portland, ME to Anita Johnson of Portland, Maine and Bert  Johnson Sr. of Biddeford, Maine.  He attended Portland schools.

John was a Jack of many trades, but his passion was buying, fixing, and selling vehicles.

His other passions were his family, Jeeps, and his love of dogs. John loved family. He enjoyed spending time with them. His children were his heart. He spent many of his younger years living with his older sister Vickie and her family. There he became more like a brother than an uncle to the kids and an additional child to Vickie and Fred. He loved Fred like a father, and now, he is home with him.

John is survived by his parents, his children, son Zachary Johnson, 11 aka "mini-me",  step daughter Laticia Nelson, 15 both of North Platte, Nebraska, daughter Alyssa Vokey, 18 of Westbrook ME. Ex-wife/long time partner, Amanda Nelson. He is also survived by five brothers and five sisters, Phillip Rice of Bangor,Maine, Anthony Macgillivray and wife Frances of Westbrook, Maine, Clifford Clukey of Nebraska, Bert "Jay" Johnson Jr and wife Melissa of Auburn, Joe Johnson of Bangor, Maine. Mary Rice of Bangor, Maine, Victoria "Mother" Johnson of Saco, Maine, Julianne Clukey of Oxford, Mary Johnson Davis and husband Steve of North Platte, Nebraska, and Monica Johnson and husband Stewart of Ellsworth, Maine, and many nieces and nephews.

To respect John's wishes, there will be no funeral services. We will instead have a celebration of life gathering with plenty of food and a cash bar on December 2, 2017 to be held at Chap's Saloon,  1301 Long Plains Road (Rt. 22) Buxton, Maine from 11am-4pm. For further details or to make something, please call Vickie at 207-294-2050.
