Brian J. Jipson

Saco, ME - Brian J. Jipson, 53, a South Portland native, was a huge NASCAR lover and Jeff Gordon fan. Whether watching it from the stands with partner Sue or on TV, he never missed a race. You would always see Brian driving around in his 1968 Oldsmobile convertible with his long curly hair blowing in the breeze representing the free spirit that he was. Brian was the loudest fan in the stands at his son Taylor’s Lacrosse games at Thornton Academy. He would not only root for his son and his team: Once the game was in-hand, he would root for the other team to make them feel his sportsmanship. His heart was always in the right place.

If you needed anything, Brian was there always willing to help. He would give you the shirt off his back and the last penny in his pocket. It wasn’t about material things for Brian and he never cared what anyone else thought. He was a fun loving free spirited man who loved the heck out of life every day.

Brian is survived by his Mother and step-father Doris and Daniel Buckley of South Portland; Father and step-mother Fritz and Beverly Jipson of Gray; Partner Susan Garrigan of Saco; Son Brian Jipson of Cape Elizabeth; Son Taylor Jipson of Saco; Sister and brother-in-law Deborah and Thomas Lane of Williamsburg, VA; Brother Scott Jipson of Buxton; Sister and brother-in-law Sara and Jay Reynolds of Old Orchard Beach; 6 nieces and nephews, 3 great nephews and more friends than we can list. A special thank you to the Disanto family.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the Old Section of Calvary Cemetery, South Portland, ME.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions can be sent to TD Bank for the Taylor Jipson educational fund.

Brian was well liked in the whole neighborhood!! Always soft spoken and friendly! Proud of his sons and family and loved them to no end!! He liked NASCAR and "Old Cars", riding around in his '68 Cutlass, proud as a Peacock!! Stopping in for an occasional beer on my deck, we would make fun of on another and laugh our buns off!! Everyone liked "Bri" he was easy that way!! We will really miss him!!!
Life was too short for him !!!! It's not fair!!

Oh, how I am going to miss my sweet dear Brian especially during the summer months when we would sit out with our friend, Bill, and laugh over the funniest stuff that he would tell us. Brian was a sweet man that would have done anything for anyone and definitely would have given you his last penny if you needed it. My sympathies to Sue, Taylor and his family for this very sad occasion - nobody can say that he didn't put up a good fight. I will miss you Brian more than you will ever know my friend. RIP and enjoy your new adventure. Love, Mary Ayotte

Very sad to hear of Brian's passing. I haven't seen him in years, but have many memories of him from my childhood growing up in Thornton Heights.

He and Scott were staples in the area. You could always find a Jipson brother (who knows which one!) walking up and down Main Street.

He was best friends with my boyfriend during those years. They remained close their entire lives. Sometimes, I was jealous because they spent more time together than we did!!

May his family have peace and may they be comforted that he is no longer suffering.
