John H. Niskanen III

Westbrook, ME - John Henry Niskanen III, 65 of Westbrook, Me. passed away on May 14, 2017 at Seaside Healthcare in Portland, Me.

Born on May 17, 1951 in Lewiston, Me. to John Henry Niskanen Jr. and Leona Emery. He grew up in Portland and attended Portland Public Schools and attained his GED.

He served in the Air Force at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada as an Operations Specialist with the rank of Sargent. He held several jobs with the last being at Portland Jetport as a custodian for several years.

He really enjoyed fishing, watching television (especially the Boston Red Sox) and listening to music and playing guitar.

He is survived by his children Christopher Niskanen of Las Vegas, Nevada, Melissa Niskanen and her partner Paul Berry and four children Shannyn, Zachary, Emily and Colby of South Portland, and Jonathan Niskanen of Buxton. Survived by his siblings are Dorene Hadley of South Portland, Barbara Wallace of Portland, Larry Niskanen of Portland, Edward Adams of Westbrook, Sandra Larson of Hollis Center and several nieces and nephews.

 Previously deceased by his father John H. Niskanen Jr., and brothers August and Robert Niskanen.

Graveside service will be held on May 24, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the Maine Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery 281 Civic Center Drive (Driveway is across the street from the 99 Restaurant). Augusta, ME 04330
