PORTLAND -- Mary E. Gaudet, 76, of South Portland, went home to God on Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011, at Maine Medical Center, with her daughter, Lisa, by her side. She had been hospitalized since Oct. 1, 2010.

She was born in Portland on July 7, 1934, the daughter of the late Reginald C. and Ruth A. (Signor) Munson, and was one of six children. She retired from J.J. Nissen Baking Co. after 32 years of service. Her proudest accomplishment was being the best mother and the woman her daughter became because of her love.

Mary loved food, Dunkin Donuts coffee, country music, word search puzzles, The Young & The Restless, Wrestling, QVC, trips to Wal-Mart, New Hampshire and Old Orchard Beach, perfumes, Christmas, Thanksgiving, cartoons and cats.

She was predeceased by her parents; siblings, Ruth, Margaret, Donald, Harold and Reginald; five 'grandcats,' Pookie, Taz, CJ, Tigger and Jesse Jane; as well as her special friends, Ruth Stewart and Carol Kunha. Mary is survived by her daughter, Lisa Tyler of South Portland; her daughter by choice, Gina Powell of Portland; three grandsons by choice, Josh, Jon and Jake Powell, all of Portland; eight 'grandcats,' Star, Cowboy, Oreo, Boo Boo, Pumpkin, Jasper, Snickers and Lily; as well as several nieces, nephews; and extended family and friends.

At her request, there will be no services. Burial will take place at a later date in Brooklawn Memorial Park, Portland. Arrangements are under the direction of Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services of Portland, 981 Forest Ave., Portland. For further information please visit www.advantageportland.com.
